ACBS-Toronto Cancels 2024 Vintage Boat Show.
Gravenhurst, Ontario, The Canadian Antique & Classic Boat Society, (ACBS-Toronto) reluctantly announced the cancellation of the 2024 Summer Vintage Boat Show scheduled for Muskoka Wharf, Gravenhurst, Saturday, July 6, 2024.
Show Chair, Mike Gridley stated, “due to circumstances beyond our control, our Board of Directors have decided to cancel the ACBS-Toronto Summer Vintage Boat Show for 2024. Our show is the largest Vintage and Classic Boat Show in Canada, and our team determined that if circumstances did not allow us to host a first-class show, we would cancel.”
The Town of Gravenhurst and the District of Muskoka will be starting a major three-year construction project that will significantly impact Bay St. / Muskoka Road 169 this summer along with access to Muskoka Wharf. The impact is such that the Farmers Market and all other events that normally take place at Muskoka Wharf and the adjacent park lands have relocated for 2024.
“The Bay and Beyond project involves the District of Muskoka and the Town of Gravenhurst. The project involves new underground pipes and roadway improvements, enhancing pedestrian safety and creating more opportunities for active transportation,” said Shawna Patterson, Director of Recreation and Culture for the Town of Gravenhurst. “Ultimately, the project is about safeguarding the critical services we depend on every day. The town is working with the district to accommodate events that wish to continue at the wharf or temporarily relocate. We look forward to the return of the Summer Vintage Boat Show in 2025. The show is a valued part of our summer event calendar.”
“Unfortunately, we are unable to relocate our event, so we have had to make the difficult decision to cancel this summer's show, to best serve our members, participants, sponsors and the public,” said Jeff Titshall, President of ACBS-Toronto. “Rest assured that we will be back to Muskoka Wharf with Canada’s largest vintage and classic boat show in July 2025.

What a day! Amidst a pandemic and cancelations of everything, The Toronto ACBS decided to make August 8, 2020 National Vintage Boating day. As Greg said: if you can have a National Prosecco day, we can make a vintage boating day. The date was set as this was supposed to be the day for the Muskoka Lakes Association boat show in Port Carling, and they were getting together for a boat parade to make up for the cancelation. We made it a national event! Many emails were sent out to organizations inviting them to participate in their area. We advertised the event through International ACBS and local newspapers promoted the event.
Fortunately, Mother Nature loves vintage boats and delivered a perfect day. Always a little anxiety when you try something new, you just never know if the boats will show up. We had many locations to meet, so that it was easy to attend. We had participation on Lake Muskoka, Lake Rosseau, Lake of Bays, Pigeon Lake, Gloucester Pool, Manotick ,and Smith Mountain Lake in the USA.
We were very happy to learn that we were all itching to gather with friends as the turnout was outstanding. I was on Lake Muskoka and I counted over 40 boats. We cruised, following a lead boat south along the east shore and in behind Tondern Island. Then we came back up through Millionaires row for about 1.5 hours. It was fun to get together. Today was a great way to be in our boats with the great boating friends we have made in a safe manner. Take that Covid!! A video of the event is here
