His time on the water has taken him across Canada, the US and Caribbean, with over 35 years spent cruising and exploring the Great Lakes. He has produced ten “Discover Cruising” DVDs for Georgian Bay’s 30,000 Islands, North Channel, Trent-Severn Waterway, Rideau Canal, Ottawa River, Thousand Islands, St. Lawrence River and Lakes Ontario, Erie and Huron.

Retiring from PowerBoat TV Mike has applied his knowledge as a Marine Sales Professional with Bayshore Yacht Sales, affiliated with Maple Leaf Marinas (Bay Port Yachting Centre, Beacon Bay Marina, Wye Heritage Marina and Resort, Paragon Marina, South Bay Cove, Lefroy Harbour Resorts and Walkers Point Marina) and a Boating Instructor.

Mike is a member of Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons, Antique & Classic Boat Society, Trent-Severn Antique & Classic Boat Association and the Maple Leaf Antique Outboard Club, a past contributor to the Canadian Safe Boating Council and Chair of the Gravenhurst Antique and Classic Boat Show.

Director at Large

 Lawton is a Muskoka cottager for over 70 years and made the move to Muskoka full time in 2009.  Lawton owns and operates Osler Business Consultants Ltd Executive Recruiter for Electrical Distributors. Lawton has a wealth of experience working with not-for-profits.  He is a Director at Large on the Antique and Classic Boat Society, former Membership Committee Chair of Muskoka Steamships and Discovery Centre. He has  just completed his term as President at the Muskoka Lakes Association (MLA) . Currently, Lawton serves as Past-President and Chair of Nominations at the MLA and is on several Committees.

As Director  of Safe Quiet Lakes Lawton sits on the Decibel Coalition committee, the Wakes and Speed Committee. And he also acts as the chief liaison between Safe Quiet Lakes and the Muskoka Lakes Association.
